On December 23rd 2024, just when fans thought that their favorite team, BIG, wouldn’t be the same without their Swiss rifler, Rigon “rigoN” Gashi, credible sources have said that Florian "syrsoN" Rische is also getting benched. The German AWPer is undergoing his second stint with the team, which seems to be coming to an end soon due to the rough year the European team has had.

BIG’s offiical Twitter (formerly X) handle posted the following: “Update about our CS-Roster. rigoN‘s contract is set to expire at the end of the month, and we’re actively in talks with players we believe could be a strong fit for the role. syrsoN‘s contract is also coming to an end soon, and we’re discussing several possible options for the future. As soon as we’ve made a final decision, we’ll share more information.“

Not the run they hoped for

The German player first joined BIG back in January 2020 and stayed on the team for almost three years, leaving in August 2023. Later, he returned to BIG early this year in February after a short stint at 00NATION - here, syrsoN replaced Mateusz "mantuu" Wilczewski's and became the team’s rifler, playing in his most comfortable role.

syrsoN was in decent shape, and if we look at his performance in totality, he has had a 1.02 rating on LAN. Notably, he’s performed at his best at IEM Cologne 2024, boasting a 1.18 rating, at ESL Challenger Atlanta, a trophy he helped bring home and at the Perfect World Shanghai Major RMR, where BIG qualified flawlessly. However, it was not meant to be as the team was sent home in the Opening Stage, ending the roster’s Major dream for the year.

BIG Benches Their AWPer syrsoN, Reliable Sources Say

While the organization has yet to announce who will replace syrsoN, the same reliable sources that brought us the benching leaks have added that BIG will most probably try to sign academy player Marcel "hyped" Köhn to fill the vacant AWP spot on the roster left behind by syrsoN. Compared to syrsoN, hyped is quite young, currently at the age of 23, and spent the 2024 season on loan at ALTERNATE aTTaX, who recently announced a whole new lineup for 2025 featuring four members of the old Reveal squad.
