On September 1, 2024, the Russian super squad of CS2, Team Spirit, bounced back into the competitive scene after their disappointing performance at IEM Cologne 2024. In the former event, they had bombed out in last place after losing to The MongolZ in the upper bracket and G2 in the lower bracket, suffering from elimination.

Now, in the BetBoom Dacha Season 2, Team Spirit has come out on top after a dominating 3-0 victory against Eternal Fire in the grand final. One could say the team’s entire run through the tournament was dominating, dropping only one map the entire tournament to MOUZ, the tournament favorites. The team’s performance has been attributed to the stellar performance of Danil "donk" Kryshkovets, who secured his fourth MVP of the year - he also gave an interview to HLTV afterward.

donk Shares His Thoughts After Securing This Year’s Fourth MVP

What did donk say?

When asked about his feelings on the victory and MVP, donk said: “Thanks. I don't really feel anything from getting an MVP, it's more about us winning and becoming champions as a team. Of course, it's nice to get an MVP, but winning as a team is more important for me. But it's splendid, there are no bad feelings when you win!”

When asked about how he feels competing with some of the best players in the world, like m0NESY and ZywOo, he said: “Well, it wouldn't be bad to be the best player in the world, but I understand that in order to achieve that you need to perform well as a team, above everything. Poor team results won't allow you to be the best player, it's impossible. I'm more focused not on being the best player in the world but on performing well as a team and enjoying playing with each other. But I try not to think and pay attention to that, I just want to enjoy playing with these guys.”

When asked about what the team focused on to achieve this comeback following Cologne, donk said: “We didn't have issues in terms of our play in Cologne, to be honest. The only problem we had was that we couldn't show [our game]. We couldn't just play what we practiced and that was the main problem. We were focusing more on our internal problems and what was happening inside the team.”
