On October 5th, 2024, concerning information surfaced about DRILLAS, ohnePixel’s CS2 team. The team was founded back in August as the German streamer took on an endeavour greater than opening cases and entertaining his viewers. The team was formed with the goal of reaching the Shanghai major, according to ohnePixel, for which they had quite a bit of matches to play. Once qualified, ohnePixel would be ever-so-closer to getting his very own sticker.

Qualifying for the Asian RMR

The team started in the Levant and North African open qualifiers, advancing into the Middle East closed qualifier, which they astonishingly won through the lower bracket. It was unreal for ohnePixel to get a ticket for the Asian RMR so quickly, as he expressed the following on X:

“sh** feels unreal. This whole project feels like the whole community coming together to fire on their boys. Big shoutout to @KD69z_csgo who told me to get a team for the open qualifier - humongous shoutout to @zipelCS - @SpacesalJP who then started cooking and made this their passion project - vast shoutout to @fREQUENCYCS who made sure PCs are optimized for the games - giant shoutout to @__PR1D3__ who is the goat at fixing any f***ing issue - gargantuan shoutout to the legends themselves who just qualified to the f***ing asia rmr @meztalCS @hAdjiCSGO @woro2k @AMSALEMcs @Kvem_csgo - and finally, shoutout to the chat, the community, the drillas, the reason why we are all here in the first place, thank you”

Recent information

While the objective of the team was clear, what was a mystery was how much the players were being compensated. After all, the team had quite a professional lineup - with olodymyr "Woro2k" Veletniuk as the IGL leading players like Ali "hAdji" Haïnouss, Tal "meztal" Hahiashvili, Meytar "AMSALEM" Amsalem, and Vladyslav "Kvem" Korol.

However, it was recently revealed by ohnePixel's manager Dona that the players are not being paid an actual salary: “I don’t want to ignore people creating drama and fake narratives. This project was from the very beginning a PASSION project with the goal to get OhnePixel stickers. At no point was a salary discussed or agreed on.“

In other words, the players are playing for free, and the only way for them to generate earnings is to qualify for the Shanghai Major in order to get their own in-game stickers that the community can buy to support them. These stickers have generally been very successful in CS2, with many organizations and players claiming it to be their biggest income stream.

“This is a great opportunity for the players to show off their skill-set and to get signed in the future by orgs. They are getting huge support by a huge community, we keep cheering for them and I really hope they qualify. Making it to a major can be life changing ? LFG drillas,” Dona added in another post on X. Furthermore, rest assured that the team is supported in the form of a bootcamp, as well as the costs of hotels and flights being covered by ohnePixel himself.
