On November 7th, 2024, Valve dropped a new update for Counter-Strike 2 mainly focused on technical adjustments ranging from map and animation fixes to lag compensation and bullet hit feedback. Many of the issues addressed were the highlights of criticism back when CS2 first launched, so it’s a good sign to see Valve giving the game some love.

Hence, the update has been pleasantly received by fans, with one saying: “Keep dropping these small netcode fixes! Even small improvements add up, and eventually, we’ll get to the crispiness of CSGO. I’ve got hope!”

Complete patch notes

For those curious about the complete patch notes, they can find them below:

[GAMEPLAY]

- Various adjustments to bullet hit feedback.

- Fixed a case mid-spray where lag compensation would rewind target hitboxes further into the past than what was on screen.

- Jumping in place on a sloped surface will no longer result in players sliding a short distance.

- Fixed a bug where C4 could be defused from any height.

[ANIMATION]

- Fixes for IK logic to improve third-person feet posing, especially on slopes.

Valve Drops New CS2 Update And Potentially Teases Train

Train teaser

As fans remain pleased with the newest patch, they also await for more news on the potential addition of Train to the map pool. Train is a fan-favourite map from the original Counter-Strike 1.6 that was also remastered in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, so it’s no surprise to see that Counter-Strike 2 will also have it soon.

Specifically, the way Valve teased the map is by updating the banner on the official Counter-Strike Twitter profile to a picture of some in-game asphalt. While many debated over the asphalt pertaining to either Cache or Train, data miners were able to hit a jackpot that could likely confirm the latter. Particularly, data miner “AquaIsMissing” has recently discovered references to “train graffiti” and train-related sound effects in the files released for the last update.
