How to Adjust FOV and Viewmodel Settings in CS2

In CS2, the Field of View (FOV) defines how much of the game world you see, including the size and prominence of your weapon and hands. Conversely, view model settings help you to position your hands and weapon inside the frame. Adjusting both lets you control where and how your weapon shows on the screen, thus improving visibility and comfort.

Console commands facilitate these changes. The following setup process lets you quickly personalize your visual experience:

Step 1: Launch CS2 and Enable the Developer Console

  • Open Steam from your computer.
  • Search your library for Counter-Strike 2; once found, click "Play" to start the game.
  • Click the gear icon found on the main menu to access the settings menu.

Step 2: Adjust the Viewmodel Field Of View

CS2 locks direct change of the total world FOV at 90 to guarantee fair competition. Viewmodel FOV can be changed on the settings menu. However, console commands offer you more control. To use console commands:

  • Go to settings, select ‘Game’, and activate the ‘Enable Developer Console.’ Set it to ‘Yes’.
  • Press the tilde (~) key during gameplay to open the console.
  • Type "viewmodel_fov X" to change the weapon's scale; "X" should be between 54 and 68.

Step 3: Adjust the Viewmodel Settings

You can adjust the viewmodel settings on the settings menu if it is available. However, console commands offer more detailed customization.

CS2 Viewmodel Commands

To adjust the viewmodel settings, first open the console with the tilde (~) key. Next, type these viewmodel commands to adjust the position, angle, and offset of your weapon:

  • Viewmodel_offset_x X: Adjusts the weapon horizontally. ‘X’ value range:-2.5 to 2.5. Positive numbers move it right, while negative numbers move it left. For example, ‘viewmodel_offset_x 2.5’ moves the weapon right.
  • Viewmodel_offset_y Y: Controls depth. ‘Y’ value range: -2 to 2. Positive values, like 1, push it forward, while negative values pull it backward.
  • Viewmodel_offset_z Z: Alters vertical position. ‘Z’ value range: -2 to 2. Positive values raise the weapon, while negative values lower it.
  • Viewmodel_presetpos X: Sets a preset position, where 1 = Desktop, 2 = Couch, and 3 = Classic. For example, ‘viewmodel_presetpos 2’ selects the couch option.

You have to press "Enter" to verify the modifications following every command. You can then start a practice match or join a casual game to test the settings. It will help you to verify whether the view model and FOV suit you. You can return to the console and fine-tune the commands until you're satisfied.
