Despite JACKZ himself saying that he still has a fighting spirit in him, he has struggled to keep up due to old age. While JACKZ is a Counter-Strike legend, known for his four-year tenure with G2 from 2018 to 2022, during which the team had much success at LAN tournaments like PGL Major Stockholm 2021, IEM Cologne 2021, and IEM Katowice 2020 and 2022, time catches upto everyone.
However, the Frenchman is well past his prime now, still competing in the Counter-Strike esports circuit at the age of 32. After being let go by G2, JACKZ struggled to keep up. First, he spent eight months with HEET where practically no progress was made. He then gave international lineups a shot, joining teams like TSM and Project G, but that brought little to no success. Most recently, JACKZ joined GenOne, and while the team did make it to HLTV’s top 100 teams, that was the farthest they could go.
Given his track record after G2, JACKZ has struggled to stay relevant. However, his name was back in the news once again when he stepped in for Vitality at the BLAST Premier World Final last month as an emergency substitution. He was the perfect fit for the role, as with little practice, it is only one’s experience that keeps them alive in the server.
Having put up a respectable performance at the time, JACKZ said: “I know that in Counter-Strike a lot of people think about age. And when they see 32, maybe it's, like, "His career is over." But I think I can still play one or two years at the top level and I want to prove myself and if I'm in good condition, I can still do it.” Although he has struggled to demonstrate that ever since.
