friberg’s track record
friberg became acquainted with Counter-Strike back when he started playing professionally on CS:Source, but was relatively unknown at the time. His career first popped off when he joined Ninjas in Pyjamas’s CS:GO team in 2012 as their entry-fragger, assuming the role with the most spotlight. This legendary NIP roster is what went onto securing a 87-0 win streak on LAN, stacking up countless LAN trophies over the years - truly a marvel.
After having won so many LANs, many Swedes speculated a Major victory to be coming home real soon. friberg had partaken in many Majors, putting up stellar performances but falling short of first place. For instance, NIP reached 4th place at DreamHack Cluj-Napoca 2015 and 2nd place in four Majors shortly before that. However, it was during ESL One Cologne 2014 where friberg reached his peak performance, not only winning the Major but also bagging the MVP award.
As friberg grew older, his previously-sharp senses started to dull, commencing a decline every esports player is bound is undergo. Towards the end of his career, friberg featured for OpTic and HEROIC after his time on Ninjas in Pyjamas ended in 2017, before inevitably finishing it all with Dignitas in 2022. He has since been featured in a number of showmatches, and appeared in Major open qualifiers alongside other legends, often times former teammates.
The Swede legend will forever be remembered in the Counter-Strike community for the impact he had in his era. One of the many things he will be remembered for is the "Thank Mr Friberg" meme, titled the "King of Banana" for friberg’s plays on that part of Inferno, something that also earned him an in-game tribute for his dominance of Banana on Inferno.
