paiN Eliminate Lynn Vision From ESL Pro League Season 21

3 min read
paiN narrowly avoided elimination in Stage 1 of ESL Pro League Season 21 after a gruelling three-map series with Lynn Vision. The loss sent the Chinese team out of the tournament, while the Brazilians now prepare for their last match in Stage 1.

The series started on Dust2, where Lynn Vision came out swinging, completely overwhelming paiN with an 11-0 lead before the Brazilians managed to claim their first round. The second half was over in a flash, as Lynn Vision just needed two more rounds to close out a dominant 13-1 victory, leaving paiN shell-shocked.

Moving to Nuke, Lynn Vision once again took the pistol round, but this time, paiN responded with much more aggression. The first half turned into a back-and-forth contest before paiN seized control, heading into halftime with an 8-4 lead. They carried this momentum into the second half, quickly reaching match point. Lynn Vision managed to grab a single round in a desperate act of final resistance, but paiN sealed the map with a convincing 13-5, forcing a deciding map.

Anubis proved to be the most intense map of the series. Lynn Vision started strong with a 4-0 lead on their T-side before paiN found their footing. The first half remained competitive, ending at 7-5 before paiN found their footing. The first half remained competitive, ending at 7-5. As the match progressed, paiN built a 9-5 lead, looking poised to close it out. However, a determined Lynn Vision fought back, pushing the game into overtime thanks to two heroic clutches from EmiliaQAQ. One of these clutches came off poor decision-making by paiN, who peeked him one by one, while the other was secured with a stunning prefire on Lucas “nqz” Soares.

The most unbelievable moment came in overtime when EmiliaQAQ pulled off a miraculous 1v4 clutch by sticking the defuse right in front of three paiN players, forcing a second set of extra overtime rounds. Despite their fight back, Lynn Vision ultimately fell short, bowing out of the tournament with a 1-3 record.

paiN’s journey in Sweden has been a harsh wake-up call, coming just two weeks after the excitement of making the playoffs at PGL Cluj-Napoca. Their ESL Pro League run started on a promising note with a win over Housebets, but momentum quickly faded with a crushing defeat to M80 and an unexpected loss against FlyQuest.

paiN will now face Nemiga in a Stage 1 elimination match on March 5.
