FaZe captain Russel "Twistzz" Van Dulken has revealed that he is changing his leadership approach to create a more positive atmosphere within the team. Following important victories at RLG Tesla Cup 2026, FaZe have significantly improved their chances of qualifying for PGL Major Singapore, with their projected probability reaching 97.1%.
FaZe are gradually recovering from a difficult period that threatened their participation in the upcoming Counter-Strike 2 Major. After disappointing last-place finishes at FISSURE Playground 3 and Stake Ranked Episode 4, the team needed strong results to improve its position in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS). Recent victories at smaller LAN tournaments have helped FaZe regain momentum ahead of the November 2 qualification deadline.
FaZe took another important step toward securing a Major invitation by defeating Alliance and K27 at RLG Tesla Cup 2026. These victories raised their estimated qualification probability to 97.1%, putting the team in a much stronger position than earlier in October. However, the final invitation list will depend on the official VRS update scheduled for November 2.
The team's recovery began with a championship victory at Roman Imperium Cup IX, followed by successful matches against Envy and HEROIC at DraculaN Season 7. Although FaZe have faced criticism for competing in lower-tier tournaments, Twistzz believes these events have provided valuable experience. Regular official matches have helped the roster develop better coordination and improve its overall consistency.
Beyond recent results, Twistzz acknowledged that his leadership style needed improvement. The Canadian captain admitted that he and David "frozen" Čerňanský sometimes react negatively when teammates make mistakes or matches do not go according to plan. Their high expectations can create unnecessary pressure, particularly for younger players still developing their confidence.
Twistzz explained that he wants to become a more supportive leader, regardless of his individual performance. Even when struggling statistically, his priority will be maintaining a positive environment and encouraging teammates to play confidently. He believes younger players should not have to deal with frustration from experienced teammates while trying to improve.
"These young players don't deserve to have bad vibes around them always, so now I'll just bring in the good vibes," Twistzz said.
The captain also revealed that frozen has been working on his attitude following discussions about the team's recent performances. Both experienced players recognize their responsibility to set a positive example and help the younger members of the roster perform without unnecessary pressure.

Despite disappointing results earlier in the season, Twistzz believes FaZe have benefited from playing more official matches. He pointed to teams such as 1win and Nemiga, whose frequent competitive appearances have helped them develop consistency. For FaZe, participating in similar events provides opportunities to strengthen communication and better understand how the roster functions under pressure.
Following DraculaN Season 7, Twistzz and coach Niclas "enkay J" Krumhorn focused on refining the team's tactical approach while allowing the players time to recover. Rather than introducing major strategic changes, the captain concentrated on improving his decision-making, supporting his teammates, and maintaining a more constructive atmosphere during matches.
With FaZe preparing to return to higher-level competition at IEM Beijing 2026, Twistzz remains confident in the team's potential. He believes the roster should approach every opponent with the same mentality, whether facing emerging teams or established contenders such as Vitality and Spirit. Maintaining a consistent playing style and trusting their preparation will be essential to achieving stronger results.
The Canadian captain also emphasized that FaZe must avoid becoming intimidated by opponents' reputations. Instead, the team should focus on its own development and build confidence through consistent performances. Although their recent tournament schedule has been demanding, Twistzz considers the experience an important part of their recovery.
FaZe's recent improvement has brought the organization close to securing its place at PGL Major Singapore 2026. With a projected qualification probability of 97.1%, the team enters the final days before the VRS deadline in a promising position. However, the players remain focused on winning tournaments rather than relying on qualification predictions.
For Twistzz, the next challenge is maintaining both competitive consistency and a healthier team environment. By combining tactical improvements with stronger communication and positive leadership, FaZe hope to continue rebuilding their confidence and establish themselves as serious contenders against the world's leading CS2 teams.
