Xyp9x – the “creator” of Astralis

Andreas Højsleth is a two-time Major tournament champion and current player of Astralis. At 14, Xyp9x bought his first computer and started playing CS. His first semi-pro CS team was CPLAY where he played for a while. Then he was recruited to join Fnatic on January 2013, which marked the start of his professional CS:GO career.

Early career

Xyp9x – the “creator” of Astralis

After seven months, Xyp9x played at his first Major, then he achieved 2nd place at EMS Spring 2013, and The Blast 2013. However, reshuffles in Fnatic resumed following a string of setbacks when the team failed to advance through groups at competitions. Therefore, Fnatic entered the Copenhagen Wolves following the split. Dupreeh and Device joined the squad at the same period. Guys are still performing next to each other after five years and have already become a piece of one of the top organizations in the world.

Copenhagen Wolves advanced to the leading 8 of the DreamHack Winter 2013 major. The athlete achieved the first-time ranking among the top 20 strikers for his own performance. The team routinely placed among the top 4 teams from 2014 to 2016. Xyp9x, however, was a support throughout the whole game, which had an impact on his performance. The athlete enjoys playing in a methodical and calculated manner, which his level-headed character only serves to enhance. The Danes switched teams once more at the start of 2015 and joined Team SoloMid.

Xyp9x and Astralis

The members of Team SoloMid made the decision to go in a new direction. Astralis was created in January 2016. The team's debut season wasn't particularly successful, the team ranked fifteenth several months from the time it was established. In 2018, Astralis amassed almost $4.5 million in winnings. With over 50% of that sum coming in 2018, Denmark became the wealthiest nation in CS:GO and three of that participants achieved their millions. As the player noted over “young” Astralis:

We are not the ones to give up. That is what fuels us. We are aware of the challenges involved in continuing to be the top roster on the scene in, continually pushing up with fresh ideas, etc. We now establish a logo for each squad, and everyone imitates us, so it's kind of like our trademark

“Golden” years

Xyp9x's major achievement in Katowice 2017 was winning his maiden MVP award. Unlike Magisk or Device, Xyp9x is a groundwork type gamer rather than a frag dealer.   Similar to strategists, these players hardly ever win the MVP award. However, Xyp9x helps the squad with his strikes in addition to his bombs and assistance.

Højsleth established a singular record at IEM Katowice 2017 by taking the highest number of clutches on the grand scene. The Danish player recorded 13 clutch wins. Although other competitors have frequently noted, Xyp9x has made a name in the game as the "king of clutches" during the past couple of years. Xyp9x may not be constantly dominating the squad in terms because of his performing position, but it appears that becoming support is his destiny, not only in CS:GO.

Along with the Danish Sportsmen's Association, the athlete founded a federation for professional players in  2017. The organization's duties will include player advocacy and legal defense. Along with that, he served as the association's executive president for Pro-CS:GO club 2018. Its responsibility is to help elite athletes with their legal issues. He was a pioneer in Astralis and continues to play a significant role in the game today. Along with colleagues as well as other professionals, Xyp9x offers assistance within and outside of the game.
