For many fans, that means he can compete in Valve-sponsored events now. What better time than now to get back into competitive Counter-Strike with CS2 blooming? However, given his track record, getting into a top organization might be next to impossible.

On September 17th, 2024, it was confirmed by the CEO of K10, one of the most influential esports organizations in the UK when it comes to Counter-Strike, that they would be shutting down. Oliver ‘Taz’ Holloway, CEO and co-owner of K10 said the following on X (formerly Twitter): “Just want to address all the messages. It’s true – after a long and hard two years of trying, we will be closing the doors at K10 and my official leave of esports. It’s been amazing working with so many talented people but for now, it’s time to say goodbye. Sorry. Thank you all for sticking by me the staff and all the players that have been with us over this journey. What’s next? Who knows!”

On September 16th, 2024, 16 teams were locked in for a single-elimination bracket for the ESL Pro League Season 20 after battling it out through the ferocious Group Stages. On September 12th, 2024, fans were watching the Group Stages of the highly anticipated ESL Pro League Season 20 when one of the matches took a bit too much time. We’re talking about M80 vs FNATIC which spanned 71 rounds on their first map, Anubis, setting the world record for the longest map played in CS2. Given this, coupled with donk’s recent kill record against Wildcard gaming, ESL Pro League Season 20 is shaping up to be quite historic.

On September 11th, 2024, fans watched back on highlights of a historic CS2 showmatch that took place the day prior where Danil “⁠donk⁠” Kryshkovets faced off Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyljev. The former is Team Spirit’s young star player, who has also recently set the new kill record with the MR12, cementing his spot with legends like ZywOo and Nikola "⁠NiKo⁠" Kovač. The latter is one of the OG CS:GO pros, who was considered to be the best players in the world at one point but is currently on an extended break.

On September 10th, Valve dropped a small yet important patch update to Counter-Strike 2. Apart from enabling the measurement of network jitter on direct UDP connections to community servers, the developers added counter-strafe input automation detection options for non-Valve servers. In other words, Valve has introduced a detection mechanism for catching players using controversial technologies like Razer’s Snap Tap or Wooting’s SOCD.

On September 9th, ESL Pro League Season 20 reached a halfway point with four teams qualifying from each group, A and B, while we eagerly await for teams to battle it out in groups C and D. These group stages are being played in a triple-elimination format with 32 teams split across four groups. All matches played would be a best-of-three and a team would be sent home if they lost three matches.

It all began when Hannah Marie ZT, a freelance esports journalist, took to social media to share her experience with the man during the BLAST Premier Fall Finals, London Afterparty. Her accusations was further reinforced by Daisy “Dampptowel”, an esports interviewer and host, as she was also sexually assaulted by Maniac on that party.

On September 6th, BLAST, PGL and ESL, three of the biggest organizers in the CS2 esports circuit, have distanced themselves from Mathieu ‘Maniac’ Quiquerez. Accusations of sexual assault were levied against Maniac recently, first from Hannah Marie ZT, a freelance esports journalist, and then from Daisy “Dampptowel”, an esports interviewer and host after Maniac disagreed with Hannah’s version of events. Both accounts took place at the BLAST Premier Fall Finals, London Afterparty, and Maniac has stepped down from the EBL broadcast ever since.

On September 5th, Mathieu ‘Maniac’ Quiquerez, a well-known EPL broadcaster and former player, resigned from his position after being hurled with sexual assault allegations from multiple women. One day prior, Hannah Marie ZT, a freelance esports journalist, published a statement, sharing her experience with Maniac at a CS2 afterparty, specifically the BLAST Premier Fall Finals, London Afterparty.

On September 4th, HEROIC faced off NIP (Ninjas In Pajamas) on the opening day of ESL Pro League Season 20. During this match, we witnessed our first case of keyboard automation at the event, and that, too, after ESL specifically prohibited it days prior. Although NIP was able to win the best-of-three series, many have said that HEROIC could’ve turned the tables had they not broken the rules.

On September 1, 2024, the Russian super squad of CS2, Team Spirit, bounced back into the competitive scene after their disappointing performance at IEM Cologne 2024. In the former event, they had bombed out in last place after losing to The MongolZ in the upper bracket and G2 in the lower bracket, suffering from elimination.
