With such a memorable run from the team, esports.gg took the opportunity to interview their head coach, Sid "sidde" Marcedo, to get his two cents on the team’s performance thus far. Fans were pleased with the positive outlook sidde had on the team’s performance, confident that they’d be able to bounce back in the future.
What did sidde say?
When asked about the team’s performance and end result specifically at BetBoom Dacha, sidde said: "Today, the result against Eternal Fire wasn't the greatest, but when I look at the whole campaign and our capacity to turn things around, I'd say it was close to what was expected in terms of performance and below the expectations in terms of results. But I'm happy the guys got better throughout the tournament and showed our true face."
"I wouldn't say mission accomplished because we aimed for top 4, but I'm proud of how we turned things around after a bad start. As I said, the performance wasn't so far from our expectations — even though results-wise, we didn't meet our goals. We need to use whatever all things we learned here in the upcoming tournaments,” sidde added when he asked about whether the team fell short of its own expectations.
When asked about his time as the head coach for FURIA’s CS2 team, particularly in terms of compatibility, sidde said: "It's been awesome to work with them. As you said, even though there are a lot of strong voices in the team, I feel that my period as an assistant coach was important to define our relationship, and for them to understand what I think, how I work, and how I interact on a personal level.”
"This foundation was built during this year and a half-period as an assistant coach, and all of them know how our hierarchy works. Nicholas "guerri" Nogueira [FURIA's former head coach] always had an active voice and was their leader. The players know the stronger voice comes from the coaching staff, so I don't have any difficulty whatsoever in getting my point across or bringing in something new for the team. They are all ears for my ideas, we have a good relationship, and it's been great," he concluded.
