The match in question refers to PARAVISION’s qualifying game against GamerLegion, where they barely managed to squeeze through with an intense 2-1 victory. Their run was truly admirable for fans to watch, as they also toughed it out with teams like B8 and ENTERPRISE to break out of qualifiers and partake in the upcoming Shanghai major.
What actually happened?
The squad’s dream was, unfortunately, cut short as it was revealed in a now-deleted video that team coach Ivan “F_1N” Kochugov was involved in both their qualifying match and the following celebration.
There are two problems with the situation. First, according to Valve’s CS2 Major Rulebook, coaches are prohibited from being physically present with their teams in the absence of event admins to prevent unfair advantages. In this case, since the qualifiers were being hosted online, PARAVISION could not utilize their coaches until the match had closed out.
The second problem is about the coach himself. F_1N was banned by Valve in 2020 over using the infamous coach spectator exploit to unfairly favor his team at the time, Gambit Youngsters. While the ban excluded him from ESIC-registered months for the following nine-months, it permanently removed him from any qualifier or major for all times to come.
Following Perfect World’s announcement regarding PARAVISION’s disqualification, the team’s rifler Robert “Patsi” Isyanov took to X/Twitter to express how it was “the most ridiculous and sad situation in a career, if not in life.”
With PARAVISION disqualified, the team to take its place is yet to be decided. To this end, Perfect World will organize a best-of-three round-robin with the remaining teams, BLEED, KOI and Monte, on August 27th to decide.
