The classic lore says that Muerta is one of the guardians of the world of the dead, which was only briefly mentioned in the Dota 2 lore before. For example, the gate to another dimension is guarded by Razor "Lightning Revenant".
Muerta is scheduled to debut in early 2023, although Dota 2 fans predicted the hero's debut a few days before the announcement on the Dota 2 subreddit. After the Ability Draft showmatch at The International 2022 (TI11), Muerta was introduced to the Dota 2 community as the game's 124th hero.
Even while there isn't much information available right now on the revenant hero, it looks that a community member has managed to uncover essential details. The name Muerta, which in Spanish means "Death" was inspired by the Day of the Dead celebration in Mexico, during which family members of the departed were remembered with various adorned skulls and marigold flowers.

Revenant's Broach is also closely related to Muerta since it's possible that she is the "Fallen Guardian" that this item's mythology refers to. In the announcement trailer, the hero was also shown wearing the item.
Finally, since both heroes had traits in common, Muerta's moniker "Revenant" was significantly influenced by the unreleased Ghost Revenant Hero from Dota AllStars.
Despite Muerta's backstory and relationship to the Phantom Assassin Persona, players won't be able to use the new hero until the beginning of 2023. Mortred Persona which debuted with the TI11 Battle Pass, was also revealed to include voice lines of Muerta.
Earlier, Gaimin Gladiators surprised DPC opponents with offlane Witch Doctor. GG's roster on the very first map of the series pulled an unusual strategy out of his sleeve, which would be rare even in matchmaking. Both analysts and viewers were taken aback by Witch Doctor offlane + Io.
