MONTE VS. GAMERLEGION: BLAST PARIS MAJOR 2023 MATCH POST-ANALYSIS

There can be no easy opponents in the quarterfinals of the major, as Legion has also gone through a rather thorny path. That's why Monte had to pull himself together and show his best game. Monte vs. GamerLegion: Mirage (Map 1)

It all started with Monte's Mirage pick. It seemed like it would be an easy victory for “sdy” and company, but Legion also had the attitude and desire to win and reach the semifinals. 

From the very first round, the mood of both teams was evident. Both teams would not lose, but there was only one winner. Monte took the pistols in a difficult situation, coming out of the situation in the minority. The team secured another round with the pistol.

Then Legion showed why they are here and what “iM” `s lineup are capable of. The European team demonstrates well-coordinated actions and excellent individual shooting, hence the series of six rounds.

We note the quality of “iM's” individual actions. This guy seriously hurt Monte in the first half and in general on the first map. Monte still managed to turn the tide on the T-side and won the half 8:7. Not bad, but then something went wrong: they lost their pistol round, then guys failed to cope with the exit to A. And the map has already begun to fall into the clutches of the Legion slowly. “iM” is just crazy that he puts it so easily. A solid individual game of the Legion put a spoke in the wheels of the Ukrainian team because after taking the 10th round, Monte could not do more.

There was a pretty good attempt from “sdy” to make a clutch, but he failed to make a ninja defuse. Unfortunately, Monte lost the map, but it's okay because there is a second and third map.

There is only one conclusion from the first map - it was unnecessary to play Mirage with the Legion, because they feel this map very well and individually approached it more confidently.

Monte vs. GamerLegion: Overpass (Map 2)

Next was the Overpass, which we don't want to comment on because Legion dismantles the opponent without a chance.

It feels that Monte were nervous, which is not a good signal because excitement affects not only the overall picture of the match but also individual duels and decision-making. The guys could not cope with the stress because it was their first experience of playing at the stadium.

Viktor “sdy” cannot share the experience with the team and calm the boys down, but the Legion showed a great desire and good preparation for the game. A well-deserved victory for Legion, although it's a shame for Monte. But the top 8 at the first major is a great result, as we expected that Monte would be the hero and could go straight to the final, but it didn't work out.

Overall

We thank you for the good story in Paris and look forward to new team victories and achievements.  The other two semifinals also featured unusual matches. Vitality predictably won 2-0 against Into the Breach. It's unclear why Liquid didn't even take the map from Apex. They beat 14:1 on Inferno with Navi and lost 2:0 in the playoffs to Apex. The semifinals of the main event are quite strange, but predictably, the final turned out to be very hot.
